USD in Uganda

I recently had the opportunity to travel to Mbarara, Uganda as an international consultant for a local NGO.  The primary objective of this experience was to suggest ideas for business ventures that could sustain a children's hospital.  Being able to go into the community to meet business leaders and entrepreneurs to better understand the market and the potential for creating new ventures was an amazing experience.  This project involved many challenges that I haven't been previously exposed to.  Learning firsthand was a key in providing the insights necessary to overcome these challenges such as lack of infrastructure.  Another important aspect to this project was having the opportunity to collaborate with different team members that represented several disciplines including the School of Business, School of Nursing, and Chemistry Department.  I fully believe the USD MBA program sets itself apart from other business schools by providing opportunities like this.  By allowing students to gain experience with business in emerging economies, the program enables its students to use their business skills for a socially responsible cause.
